Parrots are among nature's most splendid creations. Their vivid plummage and incredible ability to mimic are priceless treasures. Unfortunately these beautiful birds are endangered in their native habitat. Human population growth and deforestation have already rendered many species extinct, some may only be able to survive in domestic breeding programs. Unfortunately as the number of 'pet' parrots increase so does the number of neglected and abused birds. Parrots require a level of care that many owners have little knowledge of or concern for.
Over two dozen species of parrots live at our aviary in NW Georgia. Our goal is to provide a habitat as close as possible to what they would have had in their natural environment. We are not an adoption facility.
The purpose of the Parrot Education Project is to help the public understand these exotic birds through interactive presentations here at the aviary and in public forums, featuring the live birds themselves. Their special needs as pets and the vital roles they play in their rapidly vanishing rainforest habitat are presented and discussed in our programs.
If you are interested in one of our presentations or to schedule a visit to our aviary please contact us. More information is available on the Programs page.
The Parrot Education Project is a non profit
organization. All proceeds go for the care of the flock. Donations are needed and welcomed. Please help us
save these beautiful birds.
